EASTERN CAPE RURAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY CANNABIS TECHNICAL ADVISORY TEAM
Afristar Foundation has been appointed to the Eastern Cape Rural Development Agencies Cannabis Technical Advisory Team that is responsible for developing the cannabis strategy for the province and translating this into business plans to unlock this green gold.
The primary objective is to develop a multi-billion Rand cannabis value chain in the Eastern Cape that enables the empowerment of small-scale farmers and the development of agro-processing cooperative hubs that in turn support existing regional Integrated Development Plans (IDP) and the National Development Plan (NDP).
As one of the primary producers of illicit dagga it is envisaged that the Eastern Cape will play prominent role in birthing cannabis as a sunrise industry in South Africa with the potential to become a global processing leader that as such should be prioritized as a primary economic reconstruction and development tool.
