Afristar’s Nicholas Heinamann served as the project manager for this innovative award-winning environmental education center.

He was responsible for coordinating the partnership from the inception stage responsible for the design, construction, programme development and operational management from 2001 to 2014.

The centre serves learners and educators from 72 Mamelodi Schools and 186 schools in the Southern Tshwane Educational District, receiving over 10,000 student visitors per year.

The Centre’s interactive classrooms, appropriate technology displays and permaculture demonstration garden provide resources and activities for hands on activity based learning and for educators to integrate environment and sustainable living skills into the national school’s curriculum, assisting educators to develop activities and lesson plans in relevant areas.
